The Ohio Justice Alliance for Community Corrections (OJACC) seeks Independent Contractor to serve as Executive Director to manage the day-to-day operations of the organization at the direction of the OJACC Executive Committee/Board of Trustees

Value of Annual Contract: $42,900 – $45,000 Commensurate with Experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist OJACC officers in providing leadership and direction for OJACC in conformity with existing federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of community corrections and understanding of the role of OJACC within the Ohio criminal justice system.
  • Organize and participate in OJACC Board of Trustee meeting, Executive Committee meetings, Retreats, Legislative Receptions and other events representing OJACC. Participate in subcommittee meetings and arrange virtual meetings when necessary. Provide all necessary services pertaining to the meetings, such as, meeting notices, agenda, attendance list for minutes, registration, place and food, etc. Follow up with committee chairs, officers and other board members to ensure required duties are completed and to discuss the status and needs for OJACC projects.
  • Represent OJACC and increase awareness to help advance mission by serving as a liaison with stakeholders, state agencies, outside businesses, agencies, organizations, elected officials and vendors.
  • Provide record keeping of important documents for OJACC and maintain all OJACC materials.
  • Provide all administrative support for conducting an annual conference in collaboration with the Conference Committee, including securing a conference site, coordinating with site staff, disseminating registrations, collecting and processing registrations, preparing materials, coordinating with presenters, managing award process and numerous other tasks necessary to facilitate a successful conference. Organize additional training opportunities, as needed, including, but not limited to virtual training sessions.
  • Establish and maintain an OJACC bank account, receive all OJACC funds for deposit. Work with contracted CPA companies to create fiscal reports and to prepare required tax documentation.
  • Process all OJACC invoices and deposits in a timely manner, maintain bookkeeping records for all financial records, and create a monthly treasurer’s report, annual report, annual budget and other reports as necessary. Meet with OJACC Treasurer to verify all financial transactions. Investigate grant and other funding opportunities to supplement OJACC’s budget.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with 501(c)(3) non-profit organization status.
  • Maintain OJACC website and social media sites including updates.
  • Work to increase membership in OJACC by promoting membership among local and county governmental agencies, private organizations and individuals. Maintain current membership directory in an accurate computerized database. Monitor membership renewal.
  • Work with the Public Outreach Committee to request/research articles. Edit and provide layout. Organize and provide technical assistance to ensure accurate and broad distribution of OJACC newsletters.
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Committee/Board of Trustees.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.  Ideal candidate will have some experience with administrative or management duties at a non-profit or community corrections agency. any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong understanding of community corrections
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
  • Sound interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills and writing skills
  • Strong computer and other technology skills.

Working Conditions

  • Majority of work is from home with the exception of mandatory participation in in-person meetings and events.
  • Approximately 100-120 hours worked per month. Depending on activities of the board, some months may be higher than numbers stated, some lower. Months leading up to and including the annual conference are particularly higher.
